Request CIBMTR Biorepository Inventory Information
The CIBMTR Biorepository offers investigators access to tens of thousands of transplant recipient and donor samples and associated clinical and validated immunogenetic data.
Planning your study and requesting samples:
-
Peruse website for sample type and inventory information.
- For information about how to request samples without clinical data, or for pre-submission proposal development support, contact immunobiology@nmdp.org.
- An immunobiology research scientist will respond within three (3) business days to discuss the best mechanism to move your project forward.
- To propose a study using biorepository samples, prepare the study specific aims, detailed sample requirements, methods for sample testing, corresponding data requirements, resource requests, anticipated funding, and timing considerations.
- Submit clinical study proposals using CIBMTR Biorepository samples via the Propose a Working Committee Study webpage.
- Graft Composition Study proposals can be submitted by completing this form.
- Submit proposals using BMT CTN biospecimens, alone or in combination with CIBMTR samples, at https://bmtctn.net/study-proposals, or email bmtctn_nmdp@nmdp.org for additional information.
Shipping and handling costs for samples from the CIBMTR Biorepository
When samples are shipped from the CIBMTR Biorepository, requestors are asked to reimburse shipping and handling costs at the following rates:
| Sample Type | Academic Rate | Industry Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Filter Paper spot1 | upon request | $35.00 |
| Non-viable samples stored at -80 °C2 | upon request | $120.00 |
| Viable samples stored in liquid nitrogen3 | upon request | $300.00 |
1 per 0.075 mL dried blood on S&S 903 filter paper.
2 per 1 mL aliquot of whole blood, umbilical cord blood, granulocytes, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC), B-Lymphoblastoid cell lines (B-LCL), plasma and serum. PBMC and B-LCL samples contain approximately 5 million cells per aliquot.
3 per 1 mL aliquot of cryopreserved whole blood, PBMC, and B-LCL.
Samples are usually shipped via FedEx overnight delivery. International shipments may require an additional charge.
Requestors may inquire about the availability of financial support to offset sample costs. Government rates for inclusion in federal grant requests are available upon request.
Data submission requirements
In return for access to samples and data analysis support, investigators are required to submit the interpreted results of all sample assays to the NMDP. This data submission requirement ensures that all sample testing yields information that is readily available to the cellular therapy research community for subsequent analysis, and it eliminates or reduces duplicative testing to preserve resources and sample inventory. Data must be returned via secure mechanism to CIBMTR (immunobiology@nmdp.org) within thirty (30) days of publication of research results or three (3) years of sample distribution, whichever comes first.
